My cats do hunt but I am not sure that they actually eat what they catch. If they do, do you think this would help to provide what is missing from their diet???

I read today that Royal Canin cat food has much more than the minimum of added taurine; you could try getting some of the canned food, and a can every few days I would think would be enough. My cats like the dog food, but they also get canned and dry cat food too. They seem to like taunting the dogs that they have a bowl of food that the dogs can't reach. lol. Also if they hunt and eat their kills, that helps too.

Thanks for the link. I had come across this one already in my research and at least found the name of the mineral that was necessary for cats but missing in dog food. Does anyone know if there is a supp I could get with this mineral? The research I have seen seems to indicate that it isn't feeding dog food that is bad (that dog food wont hurt), but it is the lack of that one mineral that is bad. Seems to me then, if I could get that mineral in a supplement of some kind, I could continue allowing my cats to eat what they prefer. Any input on that idea from anyone with more cat experience than myself?

Hi Marsha

I work at my home computer a lot, so if I think I can find something on a question I do.  It also is like taking a little break.   Here is what I could find on cats eating dog food.  I remember the post about that too, and maybe the member will repost.  I hope your cat is ok!
