Hi Heather   I asked Sophie's breeder, who sometimes has blue chis, about this and she got back to me promptly.  (She is So nice)  Here is what she wrote me about her dealings with this:   Yes, I used to get this with my blue dachshund lines.  This is why I did not breed blues for long and quickly spayed and neutered the culprits.  I had to give refunds for several blue puppies.  Giving cod liver oil each day helps a lot and sometimes solves the problem.  The NuVet Plus vitamins also helps a lot and may cure the problem.  I have been very fortunate in my chihuahua lines and have not had to deal with it with them so far.    I asked her about you question about approximate age for this, and again, this is what she said but remember it's just her dealings with it:   Oh, it shows up at a young age.  I had puppies with it that were under a year old, but it usually shows up later, I have heard.    This all makes me think, and hope,  that if Zoey is even dealing with this, that maybe with just a few diet additions, she is going to be 100% fine!   Katie " Lets talk about our wonderful little friends!
