Hello Heather,
There's no need for an apology........I took no offense to what you had said......it just got me to thinking that it was kind of "stupid" of me to not look at the ingredients just because a "vet" recommended it.  Afterall, they sell it in thier offices so you know that they are making a profit off it ~ naturally they will recommend it.  I normally try to be VERY careful that I don't feed anything to my pets that will cause tumors.  I also have two little pet rats and most of the rat food that the pet stores sell uses Ethoxyquin as a preservative and that's a "known carcinogenic substance" that causes tumors, and rats are prone to tumors anyway and live such short lives.  So I "cook" for my babies and I at least know what they are eating.  You'd be "amazed" at the stuff that a little rat enjoys eating........even "sherbert".......lol.  I don't use salt when I cook so I can share my veggies, salads, and fresh fruits and veggies with them.........they like french toast, eggs (scrambled), anything mixed with brown rice, cheese, etc........anything that I eat they eat.........and of COURSE the little Chi's are always begging for table food.  lol.  I can't walk away from a seat in the living room and leave anything edible on the table beside me, they're zeroing in on it like greased lightning.......and they LOVE my coffee..........the little stinkers.  It's not good for them but they are always looking to steal a lap or two.  I always have to carry my cup with me to keep them out of it.  Does Zoey try to steal food or your tea or coffee too?  Sasha

 I must apologize for my comment on Science Diet, right now my emotions are running high because of the issues with Zoey's breeder and/or health.  I should have thought more before I posted that.   I am most upset by her lack of communication with me she will not return any of my emails.  Anyways I apologize once again.  Personally, I will never feed one of my dogs Science Diet again, because of my past experiences with it.  But it is also my Vets FAVORITE food, and he recommends it to everyone.  It was a very gruesome, painful one it tore my heart out watching my babies get sick, and then having to make the decision to end their suffering.    Who knows it may have been coincidence, but also, I don't like my dogs pooping out constipated looking harder than rock poops either.

GAH, I hope no one is going to be bugged at me for what  I'm going to say,
But I can't help saying it.  I really enjoy this  group.  I've never belonged to
Yahoo email group that was as nice as this  one.  I didn't really like the
Comment about the science diet dog food  though.  I think everyone in this group
Takes great care of their dogs and  love their dogs and I think everyone in
This group feeds their dogs many  different things.  I do NOT use science diet
Dog foods.  Hill's  Science diet isn't one dog food, there are many kinds.
Yes, some of it  does contain preservatives that can cause cancer.  I'm older
Than many  members of this group, I think, and if I remember correctly, SD was
One of the  first dog foods that really tried to make a better dog food.  I
Know many  many people who have used it for years that have extremely healthy
Dogs and rave  about it.   OK, my worry is that if we ever get into bashing

I think dog food is a fascinating topic though.   The dog nutrition group
Sounds awesome, I may try that one and just quit if  there is squabbling, lol.
Michelle, the tips on the 2 dog foods were  great.  I couldn't find the one
Online, but did find the Karma one.   I'm asking for them to send me a free
Sample, because my chi is such a picky  eater and I'm so tired of buying her dog
