My first thought that maybe their is something wrong with Edward..I mean maybe Spike is picking up on something out of the ordinary.  But with the licking of everything else..I just don't know. Stevie   i do know that dogs will lick you and sheets to get the salt that comes off of your bodies but i dont know why he is licking his rectum i have never had tha I have a 1 1/2 year old chihuahua named Spike. He weighs all of 4 lbs 5 oz. I also have a 12 year old standard, smooth-hair Dachsund named Edward. Spike tries to be dominant;     " Lets talk about our wonderful little friends! Join today!
