You can file a small claims action for the amount you paid or for the
difference between the registered value and the unregistered value (depends on
state law). Small claims are relatively easy to file, but may require a trip to
court. You can also file a complaint with AKC. This would be a lot easier and if
the woman is truly interested in her AKC status, she will be cooperative, and if
not, the AKC can take many different actions up to and including prohibiting her
from registering anymore pups at all. Give it a little more time in case there
is a legitimate reason for her delay.
I purchased a chi a few years ago and the lady said she was not planning to
register the litter because no one was interested in the papers and it would
cost too much because the sir would require a DNA (due to number of litters)
Since I was interested in AKC only, I agreed to pay extra so she could get the
DNA and registered the litter. I waiting nearly 6 months!!! she had one excuse
after another. Finally, I did get the papers, but she had lied about the sir on
the papers in order to avoid the DNA. It was a major hassle, but now that lady
is no longer permitted to register with the AKC.

Hi Everybody, I sent my Skydog down to Lakeland Florida. I traded her for
a pup and found out today that the person never applied for the Akc papers.. I
guess I was lied to.. She (no name) told me that she applied for the papers
before the pup left her home. Today I called AKC and they said that
there has been no application on this litter sent in.. I am upset , angry ,
and sick of being lied to and screwed..I don't know if anybody out there can
help me or if anybody has legal experience to help me take this woman to
court.. I trusted this person and have talked to her for two years..
For the last couple weeks I have tried to contact her and she is avoiding
me. .Now I am so sick of being screwed.. This was my husbands dog and I almost
backed out and the woman got upset with me. I am praying that I am
wrong.. As a last ditch effort that maybe something is wrong in her life , I
called the police to do a well check since nobody has heard from
her. If she is okay then I know she is just out for herself and I
will never , I mean never trust again.. That is finally distroyed in me. I
just want everybody to be careful. It is sad and very painful to have this
happen and for nobody to care makes it harder. I want to fly down
but my husband is trying to stop me. If I get anymore upset he might wake up
to find me gone. I am tired of people like this. Cindy
