I'm glad someone else made this reply so I didn't have too. One thing that is hard for many to understand is that you can not possibly keep ALL the chis you come across. The whole point of (ethical) breeding is to better your line to produce the "perfect" chi. Sometimes this means letting one that is not quiet up to standards or can no longer breed, go to a good pet home. It is different than just having one chi that is part of the family. Yes, all of my chis are part of my family, and personally I couldn't let one go but that is why I also do not breed as much as many breeders....I have a hard time letting even the pups go....after 12 weeks, I am attached!!! But, if you are going to breed, it is just a matter of fact that sometimes you have to say goodbye. Otherwise, you can never better your line because you are stuck with the same line and you can never introduce a new characteristic, for the same reason. And, if us breeders can't work to better the breed, then non breeders are going to be stuck with mixed breeds, puppy mill pups, and lesser quality pups.  jmo

Subject: Re: [Chihuahuas] I got ripped off Help

Hello,

That is what breeders do, we get to know other breeders with other bloodlines and we make trades.  Nothing wrong with it.  We love the pup that leaves and know they are going to a good home that will love them and we love the one that comes to us.  WE want to better our lines and that is what breeder friends do, they trade. I guess you may not of known she breeds?  We breeders help each other reach our goal in bettering the breed.

I hope I don't offend you, but TRADING A DOG? How cruel can you possibly get? That little brindle Chi is a living, breathing, thinking, feeling creature that was probably scared to death, not mention wondering what he had done wrong to deserve being dumped so casually. My Chi's are my babies and I could no more trade any one of them than I could trade off my husband for a newer model. It was great that you wanted a pup, but you should have kept the brindle too. I true dog lover always has room in his or her heart for one more.
