Hello Marsha,
There's a big difference between "wild and vicious". Wolves are by thier very nature gentle animals, highly intelligent and shy by nature. I always refer to them as "God's First and Chosen Dog".........I dearly love my Chihuahuas, but if another wolf chose to be my companion I'd welcome him into my heart and my home with wide open arms. I would ALSO KEEP my CHI's separate from him........NOT because he would attack them, but because of the size difference. They can get hurt just as easily playing with someone NOT thier own size. Every wolf I ever owned was extremely loving, loyal and gentle and KNEW the difference between a child and an adult and would place himself between them as protection if the adult was NOT the parents or a family member. I lived in Oklahoma in an old house that wasn't heated well and they all curled up around me and kept me warm with thier bodies all through the winter. Course in the
summer they still wanted to curl up with me on the sofa but they put out sooooo much heat from thier bodies. I don't own a fur coat........real or otherwise.......I firmly believe that the fur coat looks much better ON THE ANIMAL. Sash.

AMEN!Hey interesting you had a wolf hybrid. I have a Husky/Wolf hybrid myself. This is another breed that gets a bad rap. Mine is as gentle as a baby and is scared of her own shadow.....but that is how I raised her! It all depends on the home a dog gets. That's my story and I'm sticking with it! lolMarsha----- Original Message -----From: Sasha BlackSent: Saturday, February 18, 2006 9:36 PMSubject: Re: [Chihuahuas] Re: chihuahua chewed /dangerous dogs-MarshaI think that the people who breed these dogs should take more responsibility when selling them. Not just to anyone who has a buck in thier pocket but check out the home, and the potential buyers closer. What is thier lifestyle? Family? Do they have "young" children or small dogs, birds and other small pets? What is the situation regarging thier yard? Is it large and fenced? Will the dog be a MEMBER of the family, or just kept out in the yard, maybe even on a chain most of it's life? Are they the kind of people who will praise "aggressive behavior" and reinforce the wrong type of behavior? I would follow up with visits to the home to see how the dog was adjusting. Eons ago when I was younger, I used to have wolf hybrids and had a litter of pups.breed.........I've learned there are too many dogs in need of homes and too few responsible homes and owners for them. I sold a puppy to a woman who wanted me to take payments. I agreed to it, and let her take the pup. About a week later her first check bounced and I tried to call her. All I got was her answering machine. She never returned the calls. So my Hubby and I jumped on his motorcycle and drove to her house only to find my poor puppy tied to a tree in the yard. It was August in Phoenix, Arizona when the temperatures go to the 100's and this poor puppy had NO FOOD and NO WATER. Shocked and FURIOUS I knocked on the door and no one answered. A neighbor saw me and said that the people went camping for the weekend. I untied the pup and carried him all the way home on the bike and then called the woman again and left this message on the machine that I repossessed the dog and wouldn't sell her another animal for twenty times the money. THREE WEEKS LATER this woman had the nerve to call me and threaten to have me arrested for "stealing her dog", so I told her I'd have her thrown in jail for "animal cruelty", file charges on her for writing a bogus check to me, and for "theft by fraud, and make sure to bring her to the attention to the news people on television. She hung up on me and I never heard from her again. I realized that it was so very hard to find really good forever homes for pups. I just do NOT understand why anyone would WANT a dog if this is how they plan to treat it and if this is the life they want to give it.

Yes, I know it is a sad fact that eventually most of these "bad" breeds end
up being put to sleep, but that is all the fault of the stupid PEOPLE who
keep breeding them then training them to be aggressive. I think there should
be some type of limitation on breeding these breeds. Like a good ethical
breeder who is breeding a put (which CAN be a good dog if raised right) must
have a license and must keep records of who sold to, ect. and anyone else
caught breeding be somehow punished. I mean maybe this isn't the right
thing, but you know what I mean, there should be some way to limit these
dogs ever being reproduced for the purpose of being trained to be aggressive
in the first place, and then there would not be so many to be put to sleep.
Does that make sense or am I babbling??? lol
