The only way for more jail time is if it is a felony. Only the legislature
decides where the crime falls (felony or misdemeanor) ...which is why I said
this judge went as far as he could!! Yes, they can have the sentences to run
consecutively (concurrent is when they are at the same time...consecutively is
when it is one after the other), but there are limits to what sentences can be
given to run consecutively....most likely, this was a situation where they
couldn't do that (I don't know FLA law).....if he could have, something tells me
this judge would have! How to change it???? Contact your state reps and
senators...let them know you support stronger animal rights laws!!
As for why the guy got less, hard to say since I don't know the details of
the case, but from reading the opinion, looks as if it had to do with the lady
having a past history or the same offense. It appears to be the guys first
charge of this type.

Yes, really!! I love that Judge.
But..Marsha is there a way to make these people face longer jail time.
Could the sentences have run concurrently? and why do you suppose the
man got less time than the woman? Also, something the article doesn't
say straight out is that the Judge took away the only way these creeps
probably have of making living!

According to American law, you can't be tried twice for the same
offense.
These folks got the maximum sentence allowed at this time, plus their
livelihood has been taken away, along with their property worth over a
$1,000,000 USD.
As well, as their reputations, after all HE was a Church of Christ
minister!
I'm just so grateful that the animal rights group: Last Chance for
Animals, was able to send an undercover agent to document this, and come out
alive!
It takes a village to put a criminal away! pun intended!
