every chi person I know truly love their chi babies... but how
could you NOT! Based on the comments you have a lot of wonderful
people on the group that have adopted … you don't know how much you
are appreciated! Without people adopting these babies, there would
be no rescue….

I know the adoption fees of rescue is much higher than shelters.
(especially smaller groups that have no financial supporters) We
don't get city, county or state funding. We don't have vets that
volunteer their services to us. We don't have facilities with paid
workers and vet techs on staff. In most cases we pay "normal" vet
fees. It cost us $267 to get a health dog ready for adoption…
(exam, fecal/deworm, shots, spay/neuter) The cost of special needs
(eye surgery/heartworm treatment), injured or senior babies is much
higher. (However so rescues do get a small discount usually around
10%, which is the same as they give most multiple dog owners.)

Plus we have dogs that never get adopted…… rescue has to fund their
upkeep for the rest of their life. We also have dogs that come in
very ill and don't live through medical treatment, sometimes we
spent over $1000 on them. So to be honest the adoption fees don't
start to cover the care of these babies…

I wish we could get free vet care or city/county/state funding, then
we could charge a lower fee. But if you take in to considerations
your furbaby is current on shots and has been altered, you are
paying about the same…

Thank you all for loving your furbabies……… they are very lucky!
