Hi Kay,
After reading your post, I have a few comments to make.

1. I think you are making reference to lunch meats like balogna and
mock chicken being bad for you. Actually, no-one should eat that
garbage. But the roasted whole meats are perfectly acceptable sources
of protien for human, they are low in fat, preservatives, sodium,
additives and 'questionable meat' (for instance: hotdogs claim to be
all beef or all meat, that doesn't neccessarily equate to breast meat
or thigh meat, it means skin, hair, organs, cartilage or any other
part of an animal)
The point of the lunch meat post was to make suggestions to get this
dog to eat something....not to imply that this dog should be eating
lunch meat on a regular basis. It is also my thinking that lunch meat,
is also something most likely in the refrigerator of many of us and
therefor available readily in a pinch.
I liken the lunch meat advice to the corn syrup advice to keep on hand
for hypoglycemic and diabetic dogs. Feeding our pets liquid invert
sugar is not good for them, but in a pinch it's perfectly acceptable.

2. Writing in caps to stress importance is not a good idea. lets take
a moment here to establish that when you write in caps; as I assume
you are not familiar, the intention is yelling. This is well
established ettiquite on the web and chat groups. Not to mention it
can be insulting to readers. If you are looking to define something as
important without having to change your text colour, you can use
underlining, or you can change to a larger font for those important
notes.

Also, on a final note, I do not find the 'i've been a breeder for x
number of years...' in any way comforting, more to the point, I find
it an empty statement of self importance when it is followed by
definitive plans of action, which imply that any advice offered by
others, is wrong or poor. A Quantification of life experience is not
the only valuable way of attaining knowledge and information on an
animal, any more than saying I have 6 kids so I know everything there
is to know about kids..... the point is, the diligent and intellegent
owner of one or two chis can be every bit and in some cases more
knowledgeable than a breeder who pumps out pups and sends them off
into the world to the highest bidder. (Not implying that you engage in
this practice, I am just trying to stress the point)

this is a group of good hearted owners and lovers of our chis and I
value the input of all members, with the understanding that this is a
forum for offering advice and sharing ideas and strategies. If we
havn't the sense to know when we ought to be consulting the vet....
then we certainly have bigger problems than lunch meat don't we!!

DD.
