Pepper refers to all toys as his ball. When he was a pup, he had this rubber hollow type ball that squeaked and it was his favorite toy. One day some bigger dogs got ahold of it and destroyed it! I tried to throw it away, but Pepper would grieve and several times managed to get it out of the trash. I finally decided he could keep it, although it was now only a piece of rubber...not a ball. lol. But over time I would introduce other toys. He now plays with other toys, but doesn't know the word toy. If you want him to go get a toy, you say go get your ball pep. He will go get a toy...a different one each time, whatever he wants to play with at the time. But still, 8 years later, he will sometimes dig to the very bottom of the toy box and get out that old torn ball. lol. The day I brought Nubi home, I gave him a baby, we call it blue monkey. He wasn't interested in babies at all, but when I had to go out, I always brought him home a baby. He started playing with them really quick. now, if you ask him where blue monkey is? he will go and get him and bring him to you. He will also punish his babies on command...(he shakes them in his mouth, and takes them to the corner) if you ask him if his baby is behaving. He cracks me up.
