Wow - I think I would call your vet and ask her about the amount of benadyl to give, Tiki was 8 lbs and I gave her only a 1/4 tsp - the first time I gave it to her, after her reaction - but if you have the vet take out the lepto she shouldn't react at all(on the 4 way shot) - I've never given the dogs the 6 way shot - to hard on them - MY OPINION ...////      not all dogs have a reaction to the lepto - my vet said one in a thousand - guess I'm the lucky one to have the special puppy - I did not take Tiki to the vet that night, but I was on the phone to the vet a few times that night/morning till I felt comfortable enough to go to bed around 5 am - and my hubby gets up around 6:00am and he watched for any reaction till I got back up around 9 - I couldn't sleep worrying about her - but the next morning she was playing with the puppy/eating/drinking so she came out of it quickly. - I feel I have a really sensitive girl - as she seemed to have a bad reaction to the benadryl also(puking) it was so immediate after i gave it to her.   But the next time she has to get shot we will be omiting the lepto  --

I was thinking about giving Tia the Benadryl before I gave her the shot, how much would you give a 2 lb chi?  Tia's breeder gave her two shots three weeks a part before I purchased her and she said that Tia did not have any reactions what so ever but I would still like to take this precautionary measure anyway.
Did you end up having to take Tiki back to the Vet?

An antihistamine such as children's benadryl is good to have on hand
for short term adverse reactions.
For me I would not give a 6 in one shot either.
If I were to vaccinate I would choose single dose shots making very
sure that the Rabies was given at leats 3 weeks apart from other
shots.  However this is my protocol based on the research I've done
over the years.
