Yes Kat, it is under yahoogroups.com and type in freecycle, and look for something in your area.  I have given tons of things away, and gotten a few.  I love it
 
Another good place to get freebie,or cheap, items is craigslist.com.  When you go to the site it looks like its a san fran site...but look at all the cities listed to the right.   Katie
