Here is a cut and paste of what I had said. I had thought it was 8 months for the male, but looks like it was 8 months for the female 7 for the male......I DID say I would have to double check for the exact, but looks like Katie did that for me! :-)

I have to double check, but I think that the earliest the AKC will allow a
litter to be registered without DNA is if the male is at least 8 months.
They can reproduce as early as 6 months, but since that is rare, the AKC is
suspicious when any male mates younger than 8 months...thus requiring DNA to
prove paternity. I know of no health reasons to prevent a male from mating
as soon as he is physically able. After all, after the fun, his job is
done...lol

So, basically, I was off a month, but.......

Here is the AKC's stance on breeding age for registration.  Wasn't that what Marsha said?

"No dog or litter out of a dam under eight (8) months or over twelve (12) years of age at the time of mating, or by a sire under seven (7) months or over twelve (12) years of age at the time of mating, will be registered unless the application for registration shall be accompanied by an affidavit or evidence which shall prove the fact to the satisfaction of The American Kennel Club."
