Gypsy Rose (my white Chi) is a rescue and she was about 3 1/2 years old when I got her a couple years ago and she had no tear stains at that time, however she does now so apparently it is something that she is getting from here since she didn't have any earlier. How does water and food affect them? I can undersstand the allergy thing but not sure about the water and food.....it seems like we can learn something new daily about our chis, doesn't it?...normajean

All three can impact tear staining.  Moo had some staining on one eye for awhile, and I have no idea what caused it or what made it go away.  I did a warm wash cloth on her face every so often to deal with it, but nothing special to clean it.  Now, she has no staining.  Go figure.
