> one of the good things about being Deaf....the barking does not bother
me! lol. All of my chis are barkers. Pepper, as a hearing dog, barks to
alert me to sounds, but he doesn't bark needlessly, except when he gets
his free play time or when he sees a cow, lol. When we are driving down
the road, he knows where the cows are and he looks for them , then goes
crazy! The others are just plain barkers, barking at any exscuse they
can find to bark. Since my kids are not Deaf, I do try to get the dogs
to hush, but I also make sure they have some opportunities when they are
free to play and run and bark just for the fun of it. During this play
time, no one is allowed to tell them to hush.
Kinda like kids at a play ground...of course they are gonna laugh and
carry on while they are playing.

Nonetheless, the question "how do you make a chihuahua stop barking" does
sound like the beginning of a joke. :-)
