__._,_.___Hi Betty. This is very common in small breeds... especially chis. It
happens when they get too excited or drink too fast. It's called
reverse sneezing, not to be confused with collasped trachea. Do a web
search on reversed sneezing and collasped trachea. Then you will know
the difference. With reverse sneezing you can rub the throat area and
it will normally stop. The dog just needs to swallow and calm down a
bit. Fifi does this too. ~Thank you. Misty, my chi that passed away, used to do something like this but she never did it just from drinking. With her it was when she was running and got excited. Betty
