And by the way, I neither breed nor buy dogs.  I had 4.  My 2 older cocker spaniels had to be helped to the bridge at 15 and 16 years of age.  My 2 that are left, the Punk is a 6 pound chi that was given to me at 12 weeks of age outside of Walmarts on a cold November day because they didn't want him/couldn't keep him.  My Darla dog was a puppy of a mother that came into the cocker rescue.  I got Darla at 6 months old and she is a cocker, corgy, golden mix... gee does that make her a designer dog?  I donated 150 to the rescue for Darla so that they could keep on saving other dogs life.  Both the Punk & Darla are neutered/spayed and I would never consider having puppies .  I'm also looking to rescue a cocker spaniel to add to my home.
 
Buddy my 15 year old spaniel, who is at the bridge was on his last day of life in an Ohio kill shelter.  They posted his picture on the internet and with the help of the cocker spaniel rescue he was brought to fla and neutered.   I have always tried to take the toss aways that wouldn't have a life and I've been blessed and rewarded by their love, affection and devotion.
 
I hate to see people defending senseless breeding and callous pet ownership and yes I am a legal beagle.

Okay look here Nonnie, quit slamming everyone. All my dogs are fixed, and I have no desire to breed any animal. I think some of your points are valid, but this isn't a black and white topic. This group was formed as an exchange of ideas, and its admirable that you are willing to defend your points so well, but realize that not all will feel the same way. I hope you are a lawyer in real life. lol. I am also glad that you wouldn't trade your life for any of ours, as you have stated several times. I wouldn't want to trade my life for anyone else's either. It is awful what a lot of dogs go through, nobody has questioned that. 3 of my 4 dogs are rescues, and I work with a lot of rescued dogs. I think you are lumping breeders and puppy mills together. Tell us some else about yourself, or make me understand your point a little clearer.
