Sounds like a chi to me. :-) I think a lot of it has to do with his age. He is still a puppy. It is very important at this point that you begin taking steps to correct the barking while he is still young enough to correct it. I really can't advise as to how to do this, since I am Deaf and barking has therefore never been an issue for me. I would think that maybe the pennies in a can method would make barking worse since it would be one more thing to bark at.
