Hi I am a new comer too, I have 5 Chihuahuas 3 females and 2 male first
off this breed is hard to train they are very temperamental at least
mine are. the 2 males are always staking their territory.
So I dog proofed my home even bought leather furniture! easy clean up
there, you are right about the weather they would rather pee-pee in the
house than go out in the cold or rain, I would have to carry them out! I
had a pet door installed and that helped a lot.
Like I said before my biggest problem is the 2 boy's the Vet told me it
was a territory thing so I would look on the corner of a chair a table
basically anything. I hope that this does not happen to you, the boy's
are the puppies of my second female and by the time I got ready to let
them go they were to old the people brought them back because they would
not eat one of them couldn't even jump up on the couch he was so weak
but after about a week he was fine, they knew where they wanted to live
so that is why I have 5, I love each and everyone of them, they are
spoiled rotten.
My whole life revolves around them, I have had a few problems along
the way other than the peeing, my oldest female has respiratory problems
the second oldest female has got arthritis and is over weight and one of
my males has annal problems, when I took him to the Vets he had to
squeeze the annal sack it is very painful for them and is common in
small dogs so if you see your dogs scooting there glands might be
blocked up this is something I just found out I had never heard of it
before. well I wish you luck and I hope this has helped a little maybe
you will have better luck with your little guy, as you can see I worked
around the problem, I even got rid of my carpet so all I have to do is
wipe it up they know there doing wrong when I scold them but they keep
doing it so rather than getting rid of them I chose to work around it,
maybe this wrong but that is how much I love them. Good luck. Deb.
