I trained Minnie by putting her in her crate and repeating "go
potty, and u can get out", as soon as she went potty I opened the door
and I gave her a doggie treat. Now, the crate door is open all the
time , except when she's eating, to keep my Lacie from getting her food
and vise versa, and now she goes in and out to go potty, or to take a
nap when I am busy. All other sleeping is done on my lap or in bed with
me :-) I still give her doggie treats everytime she goes in to go
potty. I know this sounds un-believeable but, she has only pottyed on
the floor 8 time since I got her Dec 26,06, so I am very happy with my
method of crate training, kinda like a reverse crate training. I am
blessed, that I can be home with her, but when I run to town and it's
too hot or cold to take her with me, I can put her in her crate and she
has a safe, dry place she can go potty. With the grate over the pee
pad, she is always dry footed :-) I also have a bird water bottle,
that she licks, hanging on the side of her crate. I'm never gone long
enough for her to get hungry, or at least fed.....LOL.....she's
hungry all the time....LOL. Of course she acts like I have been gone
for days....LOL.
My only problem with Minnie is that when she hasn't seen someone for a
while....like more than 24 hrs....lol.....she gets so excited, she
wiggles her butt so fast, she flings little drops of pee all over the
person that picks her up. I have over come this by putting her diaper
on her when I take her to see people, but it would be nice to not have
to do that, Any one have experience with this?

These may focus more on training to go outside, but the
information can just as well be applied to going inside on a pad or
whatever. Your best bet, from everything I've read, is confinement.
Mind you, this doesn't have to be in a crate. It can just be in a
fenced off (or xpen) area - room for the bed, for food and water, and
for the pad - only that amount of space. And since you have two - maybe
one is better than the other - but how will you ever know? Maybe a
separate area for each? I don't know. Maybe someone will comment on
this. You don't mention ages or sexes. Age shouldn't matter except
perhaps in length of time it will take them to learn. Sex might be a
different thing if one or both are male. Also, once you are home, if
they're not trained - you still cannot let them have free run of the
house. It only takes a second for them to go - and everytime they go in
the wrong place, maybe the longer it takes to 'untrain' them. You need
to keep them constantly in sight or put up until they're trained.
From what I've read.
