And there are many more as well. Do a google search for either service animals or hearing dogs and you can get all sorts of programs. Some train dogs and then place. Some will train your own dog. Don't forget the OTSD's (owner trained service dogs) which is when a private person trains their own dog to meet their own needs.
 
And yes, chis make great Hearing Dogs....just ask Pepper! :-) Both of my hearing dogs were chis. Joe was a l/c chi and he passed in 2003, but he retired in 1998 and that is when Pepper took over. When Joe retired, I tried a different larger breed first, but I couldn't deal with a larger dog in the house, so I stayed with a chi.
