So sorry to hear about your loss. I can't imagine how hard it was.
As far as getting another dog, I'd suggest a different breed or even a
chihuahua mix that might be bigger and sturdier. I have two nephews,
ages 2 and 4, and wouldn't get a moments rest having my chi around
them (if he would even get near them) because they wrestle and play so
rough. I actually witnessed another toddler drop a chi puppy and
another young child accidentally kick a chi while running around in
the yard. The kids don't mean to, but they're not going to watch out
for the little dog's safety like an adult will. If an accident
happened, it would be so traumatic for the child (not to mention you
and the dog!)
