Last night I was thinking about this and realize that it's fine and dandy when I banish Canela from the bed for the 3 or 4 nights my husband visits me in Miami....but forever!!!  Not cool.     It also made me see that I'd better not let Machi start snuggling up at night (after he's completely potty trained!).  He really loves his new bed-in-the-crate (previous owner used to put some T-shirts inside).  In the morning, the crate is on the floor and he goes in for his nap.     I supposed a king-sized bed might help.Sandy Kramer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:        How absolutely awful for you.   Sounds as if you need to use some wily female tactics.     No, I don't mean withholding anything , but perhaps some sort of positive/negative reinforcement for the alpha male who is probably jealous of how you love that little doggie when HE wants to be the center of attention.     Like, "I'll go to a football game with you, if you promise you won't complain about chi-chi (whatever the name is?) for a month while we work on the housebreaking."     And slather him with praise (the husband, not the dog!).  Tell him how wonderful he is etc. etc. (they really do believe it and just love all that (as I once saw Roseanne say in an interview) "Aw you are so strong
