My chi prefers a wider "Vest" type harness too. She looks like she is
working with the FBI with a bullet proof vest, LOL! I would allow my chis
to try on their harness at an early age. They would jump around like a
bronco, trying to get it off, but the novelty eventually wore off and then
they were ready for the leash and walking outside. The younger they are
introduced to something the better. My chis are ALWAYS under my feet. They
never wander anywhere without me, and stop in their tracks if I call them. I
think asserting Alpha is very important with Chis. I think we tend to baby
them before establishing that, because they are so tiny and cute. We treat
them different from big dogs. JMO - em :-)(

Lol I thought it was just in my head that Daisy trots around different when
I put her shirt on. That little show off! She is such a good girl she has
learned to sit there and let mommy put on her shirt or her puppy armor (her
harness vest). Oh, by the way Daisy had a regular harness but the buckles
and cloth were right under her arms so I knew that had to be uncomfy. So we
bought her a harness vest that is very wide and doesn't go under the arms
like a regular harness. She likes it *much* better.
