My chi Chiclet will put ALL FOUR paws on the pad, but her butt leans off the pad! My solution may work for you, if it was a "near miss." I laid down a piece of clear carpet runner, and I put the pee pads on top of that. That way, if the girls "drop" slightly off the edge, or if they pee on the nonabsorbent border of the pad and a little bit runs off, it won't get on the carpet. The carpet runner is easy to clean with a wet rag. Just be sure when you pick it that the non-spiky side of the runner is pretty smooth, otherwise it's harder to clean.
You might also try using two pads overlapping slightly, or one of the larger pads. If she's already peed on the pad, she may be seeking a clean area to poo, not wanting to get her feet in the pee when she does "the poopy dance." Anne
