I have my dogs on Vetsmarts "Wellness Plan" (doggie HMO), so what I did the second time was to do a "drop off" and told them about the allergic reaction the previous time.
I had given him a dose of liquid Benadryl for children as instructed and they were supposed to give the shots an hour later - at 3P. Afterward I found out that they didn't give him the shot til 5P and gave him an injected dose of Bendadryl (guess he slept VERY well that night, since I gave him a dose at 11P). But this was awfully close to the time I picked him up and I had wanted him there for longer. --- In [email protected], Meg Giddings <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Beans had the same reaction to each round of vaccines. He was with the breeder the first round, but for the remainder he was with me. Doc told me that some dogs do react and become lethargic - especially among the smaller breeds, so he told me to watch him, wake him periodically, and if I became too concerned to call him or bring Beans back up to the office. I won't tell you exactly how I reacted (being the over-protective chi mother), but when I took him back for subsequent vaccinations, Doc suggested that I just leave him there for observation! Probably saved the doc a million phone calls, let Beans actually get some sleep without me waking him up every 10 minutes, and I was able to reduce my worrying (slightly). > > Meg > > Cindy Lynn <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Pebbles was 8 wks old Thursday so I gave her the first booster shot yesterday. She was a good girl and didn't even yelp! Things went downhill from there as she was lethargic and sleepy all day long! I have been giving assorted critters (including snakes, cats, dogs, horses, cows etc) for over 30 years and this was a first for me! She is fine today but sure had me worried yesterday. I will be consulting with my vet before the next shot for sure! Anyone else have this type of reaction? > > Cindy Lynn and the now Perky Pebbles! > > > > > __________________________________________________ > Do You Yahoo!? > Tired of spam? Yahoo!
