I bought a sturdy bed from Pet safe that has a heater in it and can be plugged into the car's cigarette lighter. I rigged it so its high enough for him to see out and his harness can clip into the seat belt. Its particularly handy when it nippy out and he loves it. On our cross country road trip we stayed at a not-so-warm cabin and we had to share it LOL! I put it under the blanket at my feet and it kept us both warm and toasty! Beware: Pet-safe purveyors , even the 800 number do not know it can be adapted to work from a cigarette lighter. You need to go online to their website to order it. Its really great just slightly warm but warm enough. Probably would be great for arthritus. lov michelle and henry (catskill mountains, NY) -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [email protected] Sent: Sat, 6 Jan 2007 9:17 PM Subject: [Chihuahuas] Car seat: Other thoughts
For anyone else looking for a car seat for little dogs: I looked long and hard for quite some time to find the perfect seat. I finally discovered the Travelin' Dog Pet Seat on the internet. It can now be found in Petco stores. I got my first one from Doctors Foster and Smith, and my second one from an ebay auction. Attached are the stock photos of the car seat in use. I would recommend using a different harness than the type used in the picture though. You want something that puts the pressure on the shoulder not the neck. I really like it because it is sturdy, straps in with the seatbelt, boosts them up to 10 inches from the seat so they can see out the front and side of the car, AND I can put both my kids in it. ________________________________________________________________________ Check out the new AOL.
