Hi Jen! Welcome to the group :) I haven't had my chi as long as most of the people here, but I think your baby is behaving normally for the breed. My little Ava is 2 yrs old (I adopted her only about 3 months ago) and she is very clingy. She gets a little upset if I'm doing something other than paying attention to her.. she has this cute little yapp-bark that she uses to tell me "I'm HERE! Why aren't you paying attention to ME!?" At first I thought the needy-ness was a bit annoying.. but I can tell you that now I'm used to it, I ADORE my little Chi's mannerisms and unique personality. You said you've wanted a Chi for some time, so I'm sure you did your research on the breed. ... Just give your baby lots of love and before you know it a few months will have passed by and you won't think anything of the clingy behavior.
PS - ALL of my furkids insist on going to the restroom with me! lol! My 2 cats will start scratching at the carpet outside the door if they can't come in. I think it's kinda funny.... but I live by myself, so it's not a big deal to leave the bathroom door open all the time.
