Considering dogs are related to wolves and that in the wild they behave like them.....leaving the mum wouldn't be good for them at all. They have a clan mind and keep their family together forever so if we think on this, pups would never be allowed to leave their mums unless of course another Alpha takes over the clan.....which of course just happened. So I think we all are guilty of taking members out of their clans to make then live with ours.
