I have a chi (rescue) that easily weighs 14 1/2 pounds and I, too, said he has to be mixed, however when we took him to the vet he assured me he was a full blooded chi. He is much larger than my other chis but he does have many chi features so I just figured he was mixed even tho the lady that we got him from told us he was full blooded and she knew he was because her sister raised them and that is where she got him. I was in real doubt about it tho as he continued to grow I felt he was part corgi but the vet said no he is absolutely full blooded chi, so apparently they can be larger than 10#. We also have 2 other chis that are 11# and around 13# that most definitely are full blooded chis, they are simply overweight, so yes chis do weigh more than 10# and are still full blooded chis... My suggestion to "littlebird" is love that baby regarldess because I assure you that he is going to give you love back unconditionally, you won't regret your decision to buy him.....normajean
