I had the same situation but with a large mutt. I gave her boiled hamburger (gets the grease out) and boiled rice. I also stood by her while she ate, she felt safer with somebody guarding her back. Her name is Ginger, she will be 16 in June.
Also call your vet and run this past him. If he is not in today, try the rice and hamburger, add extra water when cooking the rice so it is soft.
