Yes, I agree.  It appears the fastest way to mess up a breed is 
popularity.  At one time Cocker Spaniels were considered a 'mean' 
breed.  The cause of that was overbreeding, poor breeding, in-
breeding and bad ownership.  It took something like 20 years after 
their popularity waned to clean up the breed.
