I got this from another group I'm in . . . it is exactly the way I feel about
pedophiles working with kids!

The black pit bull puppy was bruised and beaten, with leg wounds and
bloody pads on all four feet from being dragged by a leash. It was dangled
off the ground by its collar and, neighborhood kids said, kicked so hard
it went airborne.

The dog's owner, Travis David Leake, 23, of Austin, Minn., pleaded guilty
to a gross misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty and was sentenced to
probation and community service, including 100 hours of working at an
animal shelter.

But the Mower County Humane Society, which runs the area's animal shelter,
didn't want Leake around.

"We are not trained to rehabilitate somebody like that," said Jane Roden,
the society's president, adding that even though the society is short on
volunteers, "we really would not be comfortable leaving him on his own in
an area to work with the animals."

A presentence investigation called for 100 hours of community service for
Leake, and Mower County District Judge Donald Rysavy added 100 hours of
working with animals.

Citing other animal abuse cases in Mower County, prosecutor Jeremy
Clinefelter, an assistant county attorney, said that such community
service would seem sensible "to have these people get a little better
understanding of how to handle animals."

A county corrections official will find "some other productive endeavor"
for Leake, he said.

There is an Indian legend which says when a human dies there is a bridge they
must cross to enter into heaven. At the head of that bridge waits every animal
that human encountered during their lifetime. The animals, based upon what they
know of this person, decide which humans may cross the bridge.... and which are
turned away.
