The laws do vary from state to state, so people need to research the state
in which they live

You don't have to be elderly to warrent having an SD. There is a woman in
her early thirties who happens to be an attorney that has one a few
buildings up from me. She is the one that told me about getting the script
from the Doctor. She says Condo's are afraid of the word SARA Act and won't
even question it further. Mine you I have no personal experience on that.
What my Condo did was lie for 30 years saying it was in the Documents that
you could not have a dog. When someone asked the President if this was true
he said no. That's how I have my 2 CHi's. I hid the first Jack Russel and
1st Chi for 5 years. I was fortunate they did not bark ever. Trying now to
train Raina not to bark. She is 5 months old now and I don't know what she
does when I'm not there with the workman, but I control her after I'm home
when she does bark.

Maybe if the lady is elderly, she could look into an SD or emotional support
dog......even those dogs for psych disorders that normally don't fall under
ADA access, will fall under housing laws...she may be able to get a small
dog under one of these if her doctors can state that she needs one for her
mental or physical well being.....

I signed it. I have an elderly relative in Illinois. Her doctor told
her that a small companion pet would be ideal for her since she is on
her own and has never married or had children to check up on her. She
lives in a condo (that she owns) in a senior building and the
homeowners association still refuses to allow her to have a pet. She
had already decided on a litter-box trained chi that she had gotten to
know and it is really sad that she can't have one. Sharon
