Furdion, please pardon me for contradicting you, but only about 60% of the
strains of Ringworm fluoresce under ultraviolet light. The only real way to
diagnose ringworm is with not only a scraping, but a culture as well, which
takes time. That's why a lot of vets, if they suspect ringworm, will tell
you to go ahead and start topical treatment and a special wash, because the
cream and the shampoo are harmless (you can buy the cream at any drugstore,
and the shampoo is inexpensive), and by the time the culture gets back, your
dog could be well on the way to being rid of the ringworm.
