this may sound like a smart elick answer, but it really isn't...he does it because he wants to...it is fun, it taste good to him, it relieves boredom, ect......puppies tend to be bad about this, but usually grow out of it. If an older dog starts doing it out of the blue with no history of it, it is usually because they are starting to develop control problems and can't control where they go and are ashamed, so they try to hide the evidence. But for pups.....they do it because they want to. Marsha'
