I sure didn't intend to scare anyone...a well bred merle can be just as healthy as any well bred chi. If you are looking for a merle, don't feel scared to get a merle. Normally, any health problems that are a result of a bad merle breeding will be known before the pup is ready to come to you anyways......in fact, a merle problem would be more readily noticed than a lot of the health problems normal to chis...such as bad knees ect which may not show so soon....
