There actually are many forms of IBS in dogs.... It tipically doesnt show up in
blood tests or xrays.. the animal needs to be scoped and biopsies need to be
taken of the intestens and stomach... Thats the only way you'll find out for
sure... If Pepper is fine then I wouldnt put the pup through all that... I was
a nightmare for me and my baby.. now she may have a liver shunt and is on more
meds... the poor thing is taken sooooo many meds a day But if it will help
rather than a 5 thousand dollar exploratory surgey Im there.....

Has any one had this liver shunt problem with thier chi??

I didn't get this post before I wrote my post asking if dogs get it, lol. So
you mean they actually call such symptoms IBS in dogs??? I didn't know that.

Pepper's problems are under control with diet and the occasional cottage
cheese, so I wouldn't want to put him on a med., but it is nice to know a
possible reason for the prob.

  I personally don't give cottage cheese as a treat...and I don't like it
myself, but I do keep it on hand for Pepper and give it to him as needed for
his stomach. Vets have never been able to find out what is wrong with him, but
sometimes he gets a real bloody slimy stool and the cottage cheese helps cure
this. I normally give him like a tablespoon or two twice a day for 3 days for
that.
