Both my chihuahuas adore veggies, and their homemade diet contains a LOT of
them -- green beans, zucchini, potato and sweet potato. You shouldn't,
however, give your dog grapes and especially raisins. They've been linked
with some health problems. Be careful when giving your dogs canned veggies
that they're low in sodium. The only other warning I know of is anything in
the onion family, and I'm hearing avocados are a no-no, too. You can make
some lovely chews for your doggie by slicing sweet potatoes about 1/4 inch
thick and drying them in a very low (200) oven. Or you can pay much more at
the pet store for the same thing.<G> Do be aware that too many dark leafy
greens (like kale or spinach) can give your dog the trots, and it will be
NASTY stuff, too.<G> Otherwise, avoid citrus fruits if your dog has a
sensitive tummy, and don't give pits or seeds on fruits like apples,
peaches, etc. Teeny seeds such as those in your kiwis, strawberries, etc.
are fine. My girls love any fruits or veggies they can get, including plain
lettuce, I'm not kidding.
