Mare, I'm glad to hear good report on the Westies so I can think better of
them now, and we had a big garden on the back 1/4 of this acre until the last
few years. I elected to put a horse back there for a few years and the city
decided to move this way so after about 5 years of the city moving this way and
paving the streets there is no place to ride. Now we are back with big space
so we put an above ground pool, just mainly to make sure we wanted a swimming
pool before we put a lot of money into owning one. This pool is sufficient so
this year we still have a 24' pool back there. Next year I may go back to
growing okra, tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash, the 4 things I had good luck
with. What do you plan to grow?

I adore my dogs. My hubby is very laid back and loves them too so I am lucky
there.
The only problem I have with the dachshunds is getting them off my lap. All 6
of them want mommy.
The westies have never given me any problems with the other dogs. The only
problem I have is Buffy thinks the sofa lamp table is a chair, silly girl.
We have 2 little male westies (buffy's) and they are 5 weeks old and look
just like the coca cola bears, They are so darling.
Do you plant a big garden on your acre? We want to.
  Hugs,Mare

Mare, don't you just love the dogs, just every kind of dog, I'd love to
have at least one of every kind, Travis thinks I'm crazy when I say that and
he's afraid I'll do it, but I won't, I'm just keeping a certain number and they
all get along together and pile up and make that little stack when they sleep,
so so cute, except for the maltese, maltese don't like dogs, I think they are
related to cats, but I'd love to have a dachshund and can't fit one in without
adding to number of dogs and I've heard good and bad stories about having
dachshunds and other small dogs. I do love bassetts, they win my heart every
time I see one. I've rescued a dozen dogs this year, have paid a lot to get
them and don't get that money back when I find them a good home, these little
Imperial shih tzus came from shih tzu hell, so they are very loving and I'd
hate for them to go to somebody else because you never know when somebody might
get sick and have to give the puppy away to a family
that isn't so nice, anyway, I'm overprotective and they cling to me. My
daughter when she comes to visit, says "they follow you everywhere" - yes they
do, I'm the mommy. How do the westies get along with the other dogs. I had a
lady tell me they won't get along with any other dogs. So since I didn't know,
I just kept that thought and waited for somebody to tell me something
different. Shelties are such sweet looking dogs, there was one at the flea
market a year or so ago for $75, for a little female, about 4 months old, just
beautiful and Travis said "NO!" and dragged me away. We are also on an acre.
