unfortunately quiet a number of chis are prone to seizures. My mom's chi has
had them for years and just recently, her 7 year old son has began having them
as well. According to my vet, there really isn't a lot that can be done. There
are some anti seizure meds, but my vet recommended against them saying they
weren't really successful. When Salt and Chiffon are having their seizures mom
just hold them till they pass and tries to reassure them and keep them from
falling and getting hurt, ect.
However, they don't have a lot of forewarning the way you say yours have. Their
seizures come on pretty quickly with no warning and last anywhere from a few
minutes to a half hour. But the same type of symptoms..walking funny, whining,
ect. Chiffon's eyes tend to get a glassy look like she is staring off into
space. We have found that light movements, such as the TV or those lasers kids
play with, are triggers for her. We still do not know Salt's triggers.

I have a 13 week old chihuahua puppy. I have had her for only 1 month. Today
she had 3
seizures. The first two happened right after each other and then we went to
emergency
medical hospital. Blood glucose was fine. We had choice to keep her there or
take her
home. We decided to take her home, and she just had another one. We have apt
with my
regular vet tomorrow for all 3 of my dogs (2 puggles and this new chihuahua)
because
they all have eye infection. The eye infection can be cured easily, I am so
scared for this
little one and these seizures. She was walking in circles all day and even
walking
backwards and whimpering all day before the seizures happened. Since I am a
new chi
owner, I decided to join this group tonight after the emergency visit. Can
you tell me if
these symptoms before the seizures sound normal? Thank you. my regular email
is
[EMAIL PROTECTED] I am very scared and would like to know about your
  experience with these seizures. Shannon

My mom's chi has had seizures for years and they are so scary. Give this
group a few days
and I am sure you will get a lot of helpful info since this discussion has
come up quiet a
bit and there seems to be a lot of experience on this in this group.

what they
called "dog epilepsy", basically a nice way of saying they don't know why.
She has had full
work ups of everykind imaginable but they can not find any health problems.
Vet says she
is fit as a fiddle....but still she has the seizures. All we can do for her
is hold her and
comfort her while they are happening and make sure she is not able to fall
and get hurt.
