I am glad it's not as bad as you thought it was. Surgery on dogs can be VERY
expensive, so don't feel bad that you have to go with the splint. I am sure
Dora will not even notice it is there after a few days. She should do fine.
Thanks for the update. By the way, I think everyone, including me, is curious
on how she broke her leg.

Just wanted to update everyone on Dora's situation. First, I very much
appreciate all the thoughts and prayers sent our way. They do work! Of all
possible scenarios, looks like we got the best possible one. Her shoulder is
fine...she was just holding it funny due to pain. The leg break is a clean
break. Vet said that they could splint it and it would heal. He said that the
recovery/healing time would be faster with surgery, but that the results in the
end would be the same. It takes approximately 8 to 10 weeks for a full recovery
from surgery and will take about 4 to 6 months for a full recovery from splint.
While that is a big difference in recovery time, he said that in the end, her
leg would be the same either way and she should have full use of it after
recovery.

I do wish I could afford the option that allows her to recover faster, but I
am just so thankful that the cheaper option is a viable one and will have the
same results. Of course, the vet bill is still gonna be way high, but not
nearly what it would be with surgery, so I count my blessings. I will try to
sell some stuff ect to pay for it. I have already raided the kid's piggy banks!

She is staying at the vet tonight and I will pick her up tomorrow. I will let
everyone know how it goes. Again, thanks for all the advice, prayers, thoughts,
ect......please continue them.

  Marsha
