It took forever for Bogie to warm up to my husband. He loves him to pieces
now. But for a while he would not even let him pet him.

I don't know what it is, but you hear this alot...for some reason it seems
most chis just do not like men. Of course there are always exceptions and I
am sure there are some great males owned by chis and there are some chis
that adore men, but my experience has been that the average chi doesn't like
men. Also, chis are, by nature, very protective of their person. It really
isn't unusual for a chi to not like strangers.

Of course, regardless of their "nature" we can not allow them to bite
people. I would work on establishing your own dominance then making sure he
knows that YOU do not approve...because your opinion is the only one that
matters to him. But first, he must learn that you are the one that makes the
rules.

I wish I could give a long step by step here, but my mind just isn't
functioning properly right now with all that is going on....but hopefully
someone else will take time to describes the steps needed to teach him you
are alpha so you can begin working on teaching him what you approve of and
what you don't.
