I haven't seen any other Chihuahuas with taped ears, but in Crested we normally tape the ears with masking tape to help support them before they stand. It helps them to stand earlier (and some would never stand if not taped). I also taped my Chihuahua puppies ears. They don't mind it at all. I change it about once a week until they stand on their own. I have a picture attached.
