I free feed my three dogs, including my one Chihuahua. They all eat the same
food. I haven't had any overeating issues with mine. In fact, my Chi is a
bundle of energy and she eats very little. But...if your dogs have always had
scheduled feedings, you may want to stick with that. Especially if they are
"scarfing" down their food. They may eat too much and gain excess weight and
you don't want that. It all depends on the dog and what their eating habits
are. If mine started gaining too much weight, I would definitely start
scheduled feedings to monitor their food intake.

HI I was wondering what most of y'all do as far as feeding. I have 4
Chihuahuas. I have had them for 7 months and have been feeding them 3
times a day. I figured that way I would know exactly how much each one
is eating. It does take a long time to do this three times a day for
each dog. Anyhow I read somewhere that someone free feeds their dogs.
Her reasoning was that if you don't, they scarf down the food whenever
you do feed them...which is exactly what mine do.
So I decided to try free feeding. It has been two days and they
haven't stopped overeating. Their bellies are soooo full all the time.
Should I wait a bit longer or should I just go back to 3 meals a day?
