God bless you, I pray for your pain to ease. I fortunately (and am very grateful) do not have physical pain at this time. But my emotional pain has been acute for some time now. At the worse point If I did not have to get up to feed and love my boy I probably would not have. Since I have gotten a bit better, everyday when I wake up I sing him a little song (very off key, thank goodness no humans hear it, sort of like "Morning has Broken" by Cat Stevens but with some made up lyrics) to thank him for being there and acknowledge all I have: my health, our food, our roof, and him. Its become our silly morning ritual, usually he sleeps by my feet and when he hears me stir to wake he comes up by my face so we can have our little morning lullaby and kissy time. And there have been days when I wake up and just start to spin out in my head on my problems and then he reminds me its time for that wacky song and belly kissing and every single time it makes me feel better. I feel so blessed and cannot imagine how it was without him. I have a genetic blood disease that has left me permenently disabled and suffering from chronic pain. My partner comments often that when I wake in the morning (the worst time of day for my pain levels) and am clearly suffering, I only need to remember that Josephine is there and I am smiling through any pain. She brings me incredible joy and it doesn't matter how much pain I am in-if Josephine needs to eat, to play, anything at all-I will find the strength to see to her. In a million years no one would have been able to convince me that I would someday adopt a Chihuahua and now I don't know how I ever made it this far without one in my life!
