Hi I am new here, just joined today. Has Oscar been checked for 
Addison's disease? High potassium, and GI problems that wax and wane 
are all symptoms of AD. he needs to be tested asap, if he crashes it 
can be fatal! Addison's is called "the great pretender" as 
it "mimics" other diseases, like pancreatitis, kidney failure, liver 
faliure and many more. you dog needs to have a ACTH stimulation test 
to test for AD, and the vet needs to know how to give it. I have a 
Rat terrier with Addison's she was dx at 2 years old and is now a 6 
year old. it is not cureable but it is very treatable. here is a link
