Thank you for the discussion on this. My 9-month old male hasn't been neutered
yet and I am not rushing to do it. Right now, he does not go outside, never
sees another dog. And so far, he hasn't bothered either of the cats in that
way. I think I will know if and when he needs to be neutered.

The more I read and talk about this the more I really think it is
an accepted societal norm...yes it is certainly a good thing that a lot of
folks prepetuate this- God knows the suffering is vast for these creatures and
IMO we are their stewards but I cannot find any concrete evidence dictating it
really makes an animal healthier. Once someone had me convinced when she said
it would worry him when he wanted a female. I can assure you the second I get
wind of that he's off to be snipped. But he may be the rare one who will not
show behaviors.
Since I have three younger healthy siblings who promised to neuter him should
I die (as then he's out of my control) I just may never do it without a valid
reason other than the power of a long time widely held ethical belief, which I
only question for THIS situation.
Please do not take this as an insult to anyone else's opinion. I value each
and every last one of your offerings. I cannot tell you how much anguish all
your efforts have probably saved me over the year since I got my baby (the
little saint :-)
ps Oh and I only mean for males! Sounds like females have lots of other stuff
going on.
