I did want to share some of my fur babies with you. I have 5 Chihuahua's. My youngest is Trixie and she is the reason I stared a support group. She has multiple congenital problems.She is one of my pups, She stopped growing at 6 weeks old and we knew something was wrong. Lots of wrong diagnosis before I found out she had Hepatic microvascular dysplasia (HMD or MVD). We took her to University of Ten in Knoxville , Ten and they diagnosed her with with hepatopathy, which is Hepatic microvascular dysplasia (HMD or MVD), hydrocephalus, bilateral luxating patellas, right subluxated hip and a seizure disorder. She is not a candidate for surgery. It has been a struggle to get her to the one pound 2 oz weight she is now . I am a member of a liver shunt group also. Her liver is failing and now we are dealing with bouts of low blood sugar ( since the liver helps maintain blood glucose levels ) and fluid building up in her lungs. She has a good quality of life despite all that is going on with her.
